How to Make Skins for The Sims
Part 12: Adding the Stockings and Bra
"I gave her some socks by just creating a new layer, selecting an area where her pantyhose would be, and filling the whole area with solid, opaque white. Then I adjusted the transparency of the stockings layer to make them just a little bit sheer.
"I wasn't happy with how flat the stockings looked, so I used the same technique of making a shading layer from a copy of the nude skin to add some shading to the stockings.
"I'm not sure yet exactly what I want the toreador's bra to look like, so I just started with a solid black band on a new layer and masked out this pattern, using the paintbrush to paint black on the layer mask. Note that I have turned off the vest layers so I can see what I'm doing.
"Although not much of the bra shows under her vest, the viewer's eye will be drawn to this area, so later I'll want to come back and see if I can add some pretty details. For now, though, I just want to make sure I have the outline of the bra in the right place.
"Now that we have all the basic articles of clothing roughed in, let's check how we're doing by testing this skin with the b970 body mesh and put it in motion. Before we can do that, we need to save the whole skin in a .bmp file. That's next.
