Default Skins for The Sims Here are the default skins used in The Sims. Read on for an explanation of what these archives contain.
Each character in The Sims can wear five different outfits depending on the character's current activities:
If you haven't installed custom skins for formal, nude, pajamas, and swimsuit outfits, your character will change into the default skin at the appropriate time. All these default skins are stored in your game in a .far file. We present them here so that you can use them as a base for creating your own custom skins. All .bmp files contained in these archives were created by Maxis, so if you create a derivative work based on these skins, please give credit to Maxis. Most folks don't bother, but it's really polite to credit the source, and as Sims skins go, there is some really outstanding work in the stuff that comes with the game. Each archive contains the .bmp files all skin tones and body types in its respective category. Once you have created some custom swimsuits and jammies for your Sims, you'll want to know how to get the characters to wear them. You will probably be able to figure this out from looking at page 3 of Caddy's essay about how to make a zip archive for Moon Sims. If not, stay tuned to the Tech section for a more detailed tutorial devoted especially to making skins. |
