Web Site Comments and Commentary
The Sim Better Business Bureau
aka Simchronicity
On line since at least September 2001, The Sim Better Business Bureau changed its name to Simchronicity (page 9) and then subsequently moved from Fortune City to the Simchroncity Yahoo group. Older stuff is stored in two more Yahoo groups: Simchronicty2 and Simchroncity3 as well as the Simchronicity Adult group.

The Fortune City site (see the link at the left) now just provides links to all the Yahoo groups. Pop-up ads on that site.

The group files have objects in all categories. See Sina J'ax's Quality Reports for examples of some of the best Sims stuff to be found on the web as well as a few duds. Some mild adult content in the Adult group. (These are decorative items. Hey, what would you expect from a high-school art teacher?)

Health issues are currently keeping Sina J'ax from doing much updating.

The SimDay Times
R.I.P.
Closed. Domain taken over by cybersquatters.

We once said: Looks like a newspaper about other sites, but there are too many errors in the HTML and style sheets to tell much about this site.

Entry updated 10 Feb 2004
The Sim Depot
R.I.P.
Site closed in 2001. Has an interesting note about the trevails of simsmastering.

Caddy says, "Yep. It says they've moved to Sims Incorporated on The Sims Resource" but the webmaster wasn't happy with that, either."

Entry updated 10 Feb 2004
The SimGallery @ Kelahn.com The Gallery is closed, but the utilities are still available at kelahn.com.

Once upon a time (circa 2001): Aladrin Kelahn moved The Sim Gallery from Terrashare in June 2001. Offers a variety of recolored objects, mostly in solid colors, and some unusual character meshes of fairies and comic book characters.

The Sim Gamers Headquarters
(Sim City HQ)
R.I.P.
Site closed permanently in 2001.
The Simple Life Several pages of links to web sites offering downloadable goodies from the early 1900's Edwardian period, with screen shots showing the goodies. Nothing to download here. Hosted on Geocities.

The Simposium At The Simposium, you will find lots of innovative objects in all categories. There are lots of new sets and things for The Sims Hot Date. Don't miss the stunning Tomb Raider theme! Click on the site map to find all the nifty stuff.

Hosted on cjb.net, with some pages on Sim Vibes. Bookmark the cjb.net version of the URL.

Note: There was another site called Simposium that launched a nasty pop-up gun. This is not that site.

The Sim Republic

SimsHost
At The Sim Republic, you will find some outstanding skins that Kelly made for her own game and wants to share with you. Emphasis is on women's clothing based on the work of top fashion designers. Also has a great collection of original walls and floors, many with an African motif. Really nice webcraft.

Carla says, "Kelly's careful attention to shading and her eye for fashion bring her skins to life!"

Caddy says, "The Sim Republic is best viewed using Internet Explorer on Windows. I get some Javascript errors and somewhat different layout for the pages on the Mac, but everything still works on any platform."

Hosted by SimsHost since February 10, 2004. Started out on Geocities and then moved to Yahoo in December 2003. Hosting costs and time pressure in real life lead Kelly to move to SimsHost in February 2004. The original site will remain open until the last subscription runs out in April 2004, but Kelly is not accepting any new subscriptions there.

This is one of more than sixty great Sims sites hosted by SimsHost. You'll want to subscribe to SimsHost so you can download the goodies. Fortunately, it won't cost you much to subscribe and in addition to getting access to dozens of the greatest sites on the net, when you subscribe to SimsHost you are doing your part to keep all of the great Sims sites on line!

The Sim Reviews
R.I.P.
Was on Homestead; no forwarding address.
The Sims
The official site
The official web site for The Sims, from Maxis and Electronic Arts. Offers downloads, news about The Sims, links to fan sites, a very busy BBS, screen savers, desktop images, and some Windows-centric utilities.

Macintosh users will also be interested in the Aspyr web site where you can download a few more utilities and things, and keep up with news on Aspyr's porting of The Sims to the Mac.

Linux users, as far as we know, the long-rumored port of The Sims to Unix still has not been released. However, a rumor of a port directly to MacOS-X, which has a BSD core, may help this along.

Maxis has released seven expansion packs for the PC version of The Sims. For your convenience, here are direct links to the official site for each of the expansion packs, in the order they were released:

Some of the official sites require Shockwave Flash to work in your web browser.

New players should note that The Sims Double Deluxe version includes the Livin' Large and House Party expansion packs along with some characters that were not included in the original expansion packs.

The Sims 2
The Sims 2
Official site for The Sims 2. Maxis expects to release The Sims 2 in the summer of 2004. It will be an entirely new version of The Sims in a 3D world that presents new opportunities and new challenges for fan artists.

We expect that the original version of The Sims will be popular for a long time to come, with The Sims 2 adding another dimension to the Sims experience in the same way as The Sims Online and the console versions of the game.

Entry updated 15 Feb 2004
The Sims and Me At The Sims and Me you'll find an adorable one-page site offering original skins, paintings, and walls and floors. There's a link to a separate page for Zelda and The Sims featuring the surrealistic artwork of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald.

Hosted on Angelfire, with the usual Angelfire pop-ups.

Entry created 25 Jan 03
The Sims Architect Changed its name from SiMs CrAzY PiCs. Four houses here; nothing else.
The Sims Artists Guild Private forum for Sims artists. Hosted on the Sims Auction, which is hosted on Bravenet.
Entry updated 16 Sep 01
The Sims Basement The Sims Basement is a new site specializing in hacked objects. We found quite a few goodies there already.

Hosted by hostultra.com. Pop-up ads.

Entry created 19 August 2003
The Sims' Center 8 August 2001: The site says it is closed due to some difficulties. Hosted on geocities.
The Sims Central 2.0 It says that Burger Sims downloads are moving here from the Sims Warehouse. One black window and lots of broken links were all we found. Perhaps it's still under construction. Hosted on Geocities.
The Sims Cyberhood Hosted on The Sims Resource. Response time was too slow on our last visit to discover what's here.
The Sims Dollhouse Walls and matching floors, sorted by type of room.
The Sims Download Corner This site from The Netherlands is written entirely in Dutch. Apparently you need to be a member of the download club to gain access to the downloadable material.
WARNING: Background music.
The Sims Downloads Nothing to download here, but hundreds of web pages with pictures of thousands of downloadable objects, skins, house, walls, floors, and roofs; all with links to the web sites where you can download the stuff. Search engine allows you to search for key words in the filenames of objects or skins. Images are fetched from the catalogued sites, so loading pages can take a while, and broken images are the norm.
Entry updated 22 Oct 01
The Sims Dream House We found some beautiful skins at The Sims Dream House but just got "page not found" errors for all the other links. The collection of skins includes some truly stunning wedding dresses worn by even more stunning models. Tonya's collection of dresses from the Star Wars movies is magnificent.

Presented in both Russian and English. The navigation scripts don't work at all on IE for MacOS, but they do work in IE for Windows. Moved from by.ru to web1000.com in November 2002. Periodically launches pop-up advertising windows.

Entry created 2 Jan 03
The Sims Extreme Webmaster Jordan is just getting started with making objects for The Sims, but you will find a taxi, two trees, a clothes rack, and a baby here already. The Skins section is empty at the moment. Jordan expects to have the site fully operational by April 2002. Hosted on Angelfire, whose wisecracks about pages it can't find almost make up for the pop-up ads.
(Note: Despite its URL, this is not the same site as "The Sims Downloads" listed above.)
Entry updated 28 Feb 02
The Sims Great Site So far just one car, one skin, and a broken link. Moved from Tripod to Geocities.
The Sims
Hangout
The Sims Hangout offers tips, tricks, and an extensive library of utility programs and patches (for Windows machines) that you can download. Utilities offered include The Sims Editor, Mailbox Repairer, Simplorer, SimLink, SimSearch, Neighorhood Handler, EliSims Multineighborhood, FarView, and Bodywarp.

Also has a page all about nude sims -- how to make them, where to find objects that switch the characters to their nude skins, patches, utilities, and objects. You can get the "nude patch" here; that removes the blur when your sims take a bath. (Adult material).

Entry updated 2 Sep 02
The Sims Homepage It looks like Maverick is just getting started, but you will find some very interesting objects. The metal furniture on objects page 1 obviously could have been made on Luna. You will also find a toolbox, lockers, and other outfitting for your mad scientist, including an atomic bomb! The houses include some ships and a resort with a strong nautical motif. Hosted on Talkcity.
Entry updated 21 Sep 01
The Sims Home Shopping Network We can't get this site to work. Apparently requires a later version of Macromedia Flash than any of us have installed. The URL points to "greatprices.at". Wants to install at least half a dozen cookies from advertising services. It looks like they have a nice collection of recolored furniture sets, but we'll have to come back armed with a new Shockwave to properly explore the site.
Entry updated 21 Nov 01
the simshop online 4 skins. 4 objects. 2 houses. Hosted on geocities.
The Sims ID Wonderful stuff just for kids! Here you will find some very special and beautiful toys for your sim children from webmistress Juliet. There's a kid-sized piano that really works! You'll find dollhouses and Noah's ark, aquariums, toy boxes, a desktop easel, a nice collection of other toys, and a teddy bear your kids can talk to! There's a small collection of special stuff just for folks who donate to the upkeep of the site. Hosted on Tripod.

Entry created 12 April 02
The Sims Links Just getting started when we visited. The Sims Links features a different site each week and tells you why the webmaster thinks it's worth visiting. This week the featured site was SimGoddesses, which earned a rating of 5 out of 5 laptops! Hosted on Homestead.
Entry updated 4 Mar 02
The Sims Notebook Personal site hosting objects made by "Darkeyes". Coffee tables. Medieval skins with knights and wizards. Suits of armor as decorative statues. Doesn't appear to have been updated in the past year. Hosted on Fortune City. Pop-up ads.
Entry updated 20 Nov 01

3 Nov 01: Still 70% complete. Warning: Pops up lots of advertising windws.
Entry updated 3 Nov 01
The Sims Pad Has some problems with HTML at the moment. Hosted on Angelfire.
The Sims Real Estate Opening announced September 19, 2001, but we just got a single page with no links. 28 Feb 2002: Still nothing there but the front page. Appears to be stillborn. Hosted on Geocities.

Refurbishing
Shop
The Sims Refurbishing Shop has collections of furniture for every room of the house. Many full sets of recolored furniture with unique items made from photographs. Also has a collection of tubes for use in Paint Shop Pro.

Click on "Enter" on the front page to get to the main menu page, and then scroll down to find the links to the various categories. Move your mouse around the images of rooms to find the links to the downloadable goodies.

Entry created 7 Dec 02
The Sims Resource The Sims Resource offers a huge collection of downloadable goodies contributed by their subscribers. Walls and objects by Raveena are a featured specialty. Some of the artists are skilled veterans and some are just learning the craft, so quality and style vary widely. A search engine is available to subscribers, and it's almost essential for navigating the huge catalog of contributions. Also hosts a very popular message board and a treasure trove of tutorials, hints, and helps.

The Sims Resource has a fascinating history. It originally hosted many of the great Sims sites. As the community of Sims fans grew, server response slowed to almost a dead stop and they had to give up on hosting all those sites. So if you find link to a site to "something.thesimsresource.com", chances are that the link is out of date.

Response has improved dramatically since TSR started charging for subscriptions (about $4 a month, or $3 a month one-year subscription; no refunds).

Hosted in Sweden.

The Sims Sleep and Swim Shop Outfits with coordinated swimsuits and jammies from Mary Baker. You might recognize Mary's work from her contributions to The Wage of Sim. See her DIY section for a tutorial on renaming files to install your own custom swimsuits and pajamas. Also offers custom replacements for the maid and gardener.

The Sims Universe Home Page
We still are not able to get this site to load. Is it alive?
Large collection of objects. The artist appears to enjoy odd viewing angles and the strangest patterns possible. Also a sizeable collection of skins from television shows and combat games, apparently executed with no shading at all. Hosted on Homestead, if it's still there.
Warning: LOUDbackground music on every page. If you sneak into The Sims Universe while you're supposed to be working, turn off your speakers first! You can dance if you want to.

The Sims Warehouse Club
R.I.P.

Site closed. Russell says it's time for him to move on to other things. Following is our original review.

Objects in all categories.

Pasiphae says, "I found a bench here that might be made of dressed stone blocks on Luna. There are some new plants, too; we need lots of broad-leafed plants in Luna City; they're part of the oxygen generation system! The SWC House Sitter 2000 looks just like the environmental control monitors you will find all over Luna City."
Entry updated 2 Feb 02
The Sim Workz Very original collection of brightly colored walls and matching floors with bold patterns and decorations. Assortment of skins for all characters. Creators Naomi and Toby tell us that objects are coming soon!

Pasiphae says, "What? We missed your site? Our notes are out of date? Well then, please write to us!

We are getting buried in spam, so we are giving up on posting an email address for updates to the Moon Sims Links List. Instead of sending email to us, please let us know about new sites by posting a note in the Moon Sims Yahoo group.

"We won't add sites that are primarily oriented toward an adult audience or that overtly promote the use of illegal drugs; and of course I reserve the right to exercise my own discretion about whatever else comes to mind.
