SimsHost
(of course)
|
SimsHost is an innovative hosting service exclusively for sites
that are entirely devoted to The Sims. It's not a Sims site itself; but rather
the web host.
The number one goal for SimsHost is to provide a way for all the
sites to stay on line even in these days of rising web hosting costs and declining
advertising revenues. The cost of your subscription is kept as low as possible
by dividing your costs between a basic subscription and an account that pays for
your use of bandwidth to download things.
Most items you download will cost you less than a penny, and -- although
collectively the sites hosted by SimsHost are the largest Sims site in the
world -- it has the lowest subscription cost of any site.
SimsHost is brought to you by the folks who created Moon Sims,
and we're darn proud of it!
This is one of more than sixty great Sims sites hosted by
SimsHost.
You'll want to subscribe to SimsHost so you can download the goodies.
Fortunately, it won't cost you much to subscribe and in addition to getting
access to dozens of the greatest sites on the net, when you subscribe to
SimsHost you are doing your part to keep all of the great Sims sites
on line!

Sim Signs
|
Sim Signs is no longer updated, but the goodies are still on line and the webcraft
has been updated. We have also updated the URL because a cybersquatter took over the domain
name.
25 June 02: Against a backdrop of the Zodiac, Sim Signs presents furnishings
and beautiful Hot Date
buyable lingerie skins for each of the 12 astrological signs. The skins are available for
all three body types and all three skin tones so none of your sims ladies need to feel left
out.
Each sign's selections reflect traditional astrology with
more than nod toward the way the signs are represented in the personalities of the characters
in The Sims.
This is one of more than sixty great Sims sites hosted by
SimsHost.
You'll want to subscribe to SimsHost so you can download the goodies.
Fortunately, it won't cost you much to subscribe and in addition to getting

Simsinterviews
|
The site seems to have closed after doing just one interview last year.
Came on line in December 2001 with an interview with Sim Goddess Byline.
We enjoyed reading this interview and were hoping
there would be lots more, but alas, this did not happen.
Hosted on ifrance.com. Available in French and English.
In the time since this site appeared,
ifrance.com, owned by iquebec.com, has become the worst
of the criminal copyright violators among hosts for Sims sites.

you want. The walls section also has the same kind of subtle icons.

participate in their on-line discussions about The Sims. See the front page for news about The Sims.

Black. Lots of black. Elegant black. Sexy black. Scary black. We're talking major blackness here.
Skins, objects, walls, and floors, all in black and coordinating colors presented in a delightfully macabre site design.
Moved to 5u.com; no more pop-up ads.
Pasiphae says, "Those black stone walls are getting pretty close to Livin' Luna!"

Sims on a Stick
|
Home of the world-famous radioactive fruitcake that raises all your sims' motives to level 9! Also try the happiness espresso machine; there's a Hot Date version that even works downtown.
Need some poisoned potato chips? A gun that actually works so your sims can murder each other? How about a computer your sims can kick? This is the place to get them. Hosts the infamous Death Set. Read the instructions that come with each object; you could end up accidentally depopulating your entire neighborhood!
We have a character you might enjoy practicing with right here on Moon Sims.
Pasiphae says, "There are times when I really wish I had a Livin' Loonie button!"
Greg says, "Yes, this is the site where you can find the cool stuff that's not allowed in the competitive rounds of the Trollops & Johns game."

Sims Plus
|
On the web since at least 2001, SimsPlus offers a large collection of unique objects. Windows objects are .exe files that put the objects directly into your game, but you can also open them as zip files in WinZip. Mac objects are StuffIt .sit archives.
Often cited on alt.games.the-sims as the place to go for help, hints, and tricks. Hosts the Sims Menu Edit utility (Windows only).
Caddy says, "Don't overlook the scroll bar in the menu of objects."
Pasiphae says, "Check out miscellaneous objects for the Lunar Module Playset and Skins for the space suit! That's about as Livin' Luna as it can get!"

SimsPortalen is a portal site, emphasizing links to other sites. Hosted in Denmark
and presented in Danish. Look for links to "Danske sider" for Danish sites, and
"udlanske sider" for foreign (that is, outside Denmark) sites.
We made a lot of great discoveries here, and hope we can find the time to
visit them all! Many of the Danish sites are presented in both Danish and English.

Sims R.E. 101
a.k.a.
En Plain Aire
|
On November 25, 2002 (or thereabouts) Sims R.E. 101 changed its name to
En Plain Aire. (See page 3.)
The name change reflects the site's growth to include lots more than just lots!
Our original review follows. We'll post any updates in the entry for
En Plain Aire. Both URL's linked at the left will take you to the site until
the one for Sims R.E. 101 expires.
Watch the buttons that list the lot numbers in each category; if you see a
blue border, that means you've found a house to tour. Miss Simthia will show
a great variety of themes and styles in Sims real estate.
The entry for each house includes a description and price for the house, and links
to larger images. The houses you download are unfurnished except for some walls and floor,
but the site has pictures with furnishings that really show off the architecture.
Visit the "goodies" section for links, the guest book, news, and
something special. :)
Caddy says, "The dramatic black-and-white layout really grabs my attention!
The webcraft design and style stands out among the technicolor, three-dimensional
graphics that have become so ubiquitous in the world of the web."
This is one of more than sixty great Sims sites hosted by
SimsHost.
You'll want to subscribe to SimsHost so you can download the goodies.
Fortunately, it won't cost you much to subscribe and in addition to getting
access to dozens of the greatest sites on the net, when you subscribe to
SimsHost you are doing your part to keep all of the great Sims sites
on line!

Does not use a site identifier in filenames, so be careful to keep track of files you install so you can find them later if you need to.

Objects in the categories of "Decorate", "Furnish", and "Landscape". It looks like the webmaster intended the site be

back to themselves.
Click on the question mark (?) at the upper left corner of the screen to find a page of text links.
Carla says, "The resized tables are my favorite objects from Sim Street Gallery! These are the original

(A real company.)
Opened June 10, 2002. Charges $3.50 for 30 days subscription. When we visited, the
collection consisted of 32 recolored furniture sets, some nicely executed
adult female skins, several framed photographs and other paintings, and some
sectioned walls and tiled floors.
The furniture tends toward Chinese-Western styling, and the rest of the
collection is modern Western.

Sim Surfer
A.K.A. Ember Le Fey's Sim Surfer
|
Sim Surfer seems to be working great now!
Lots and lots and lots of links from veteran Sim surfer Ember Le Fey;
1283 of them at last count, with brief site reviews and notes about the status of each site.
A massive updated table lists all the sites that Ember has found in alphabetical order
with notes that tell you in what order they were added to the list.
Note that Ember uses a slightly different approach to alphabetizing the list. We
don't count blank spaces or punctuation when we alphabetize; Ember does. So if you
don't see what you're looking for at first, try looking for variations with blank
spaces or hyphens in the name. Also, as with the Moon Sims links list, try
putting "The" in front of the name of the site you're looking for.
Or just do it the easy way like we do -- use your web browser's search feature
to find a key word in the massive list of links.
Tends to go off line frequently, apparently due to bandwidth limits, so try
back in a few days if you don't get in. Netscape users report problems with scripts;
so try visiting with MSIE.
Also hosts
Country Girl Designs,
Vicki's Sparkling Sims,
Boardwalk Sims,
Grasshoppers Dojo,
Davy Jones Locker,
and
The Sims Artists Loft.

Simsylvania
|
"The Home of Sim Goth." Introduces a pale skin tone in keeping with the goth theme. Large collection of
skins, houses, building materials, objects, walls, and floors. Impressive collection of Amy Brown art for your walls.
Pasiphae says, "I find Livin' Luna in unexpected places! The goth theme, with its emphasis on stone and
dark colors, often results in furnishings that look like they might have been made from materials found on the
moon. The Red Ornamental Cabinet fits the description nicely. The black dining chair serves us well as a desk
chair at the villa. The pale skins just might be Livin' Luna, too; not everybody in Luna City is as obsessive about
the sun as we are!"
Caddy says, "This is clever -- instead of putting the mesh files in the archive with the texture maps for the
heads, webmaster Seraphine has included a small link next to the image of the face where you can download the
mesh if you need it. If I gave awards for excellence in simsmastering, Simsylvania would receive it for this
feature!
"Navigation can be just a little tricky. The headings for the different sections come up as black on a
black background in my browser. If you pay attention to the URL appearing in the lower left corner of your
browser window, you can find what you're looking for. Another trick is to select and highlight the text, which
reveals the headings. I don't know if this was intentional, but it's very goth!
"The web server seems to be misconfigured so that it doesn't recognize the zip mime type, so your browser
might not automatically unzip the archives. That's not a big problem; just download the files and unzip them manually."
Carla says, "The makeup on these faces is exquisite!"

Simternational Imports
|
At Simternational Imports, webmistress Ran Shengli hosts a delightful set of objects categorized by their
country of origin, bringing a truly international -- and interplanetary -- flavor to The Sims. Ran also
includes links to compatible items found on other sites in each category.
Bandwidth bills have forced Ran to control access to the site, offering passwords
by invitation only. The Yahoo group has been closed.
Pasiphae says, "Simternational Imports earns my Livin' Luna badge for the excellent set of
equipment from near-term science fiction settings. The Hyperpod featured on the art
page is from here. Ran just brought the Deep Space section back on line with a new airlock door that you
must have for your moon sims!"

Sim Thieves
|
We're sad to report that the Sim Thieves group closed in November 2003 when the mods ran out of real-life time to keep up with it. Thank you for all your work on this important issue, Sina Jax!
Sim Thieves is not a web site, but rather a Yahoo! egroup dedicated exclusively to reporting web sites that steal
things from legitimate sites. Started on Yahoo on May 7, 2002 by Sina Jax.
While we are here, we will remind you that all material on Moon Sims and the sites we host is copyrighted
by the person who created it. Unless you have specific written permission from the owner of the material to
distribute these things, it is a crime for you to copy this material and distribute from any other web site, not
just in the United States, but in every nation on Earth.
And most assuredly, when we move on to Luna and other places in the realm beyond the sky, we will deal
switftly and harshly with those who commit these crimes.

SIMulation

New site opened February 17, 2002 with a few skins for adult males and females, and one car.
The collection has grown to include some truly awesome and unique objects such as a stoplight
and covered bus stop to enhance your downtown settings. Nicely shaded skins tend toward sexy
everyday wear, with religious overtones -- lo and behold, y'know -- great stuff for cleavage
aficionados.
Hosted on Stormpages. Server response was very slow when we visited. Pop-up ads.

Sim Wytch
|
Sim Wytch has a large selection of walls and floors. In the objects section you will find a recolored furniture and furnishings for just about every base object from the game, so your sims can finally have coordinated furnishings, right down to matching towels! Many of the objects are presented both as individual items by category and as themed sets.
Pagan-themed objects are the signature feature for Sim Wytch. Your Wiccan sims can outfit their whole covens with pentacles, cauldrons, candles, and all the trappings of their pagan endeavors. We have learned that Sim Wiccans have an irreverant sense of humor -- they roast marshmallows over their magic cauldrons!
Showers are another special feature. A set of sideless showers overlap to form a solid wall so that you can create a shower room.
Excellent navigation aids.
Pasiphae says, "The huge selection of stone and tile walls and floors at Sim Wytch are definitely Livin' Luna. Don't miss the stone Castle Beds, and there are a couple of metal beds that could have been made from lunar material."
Hosted by Labyrinth in Australia. It seems to have a very fast server, albeit with a bandwidth brake. You might detect some hesitation and a few data dropouts as the bits try to find their way across the pond.

Simbodiez and Lizzi have brought Simzalabim back again at its own domain on August 24, 2002,
and what a triumphant return! Their award-winning talents offer a wide variety of innovative
and beautiful furnishings in a huge collection of sets. They are still looking for skinners
who can complement the collection of items. Some sections are still in work. The Sets Overview
link is a great place to start your explorations.
Operates a forum on EZBoard.
Hosted in Norway by BK Media.
Pasiphae says, "Most of the things at Simzalabim use a lot of beautiful wood,
but the Millenium Staircase earns my Livin' Luna badge! You
will find it in the Misc section of this stunning collection."

it. Navigation is simple -- just click on the pictures to download the objects in .zip format.
Simz Playhouse offers a variety of recolored objects and some original ones. Download filenames
start with "ph".
Pasiphae says, "I found two glass-and-metal tables here, and a nice black version of
the incurve and outcurve counters with matching trash compactor, dishwasher, and refrigerator.
There's also a matching gas range; you would have to use your imagination to justify a gas range
in the closed environment of the Luna City Cavern -- maybe it's an electric range that just looks
like gas, or maybe those are really inductor coils instead of gas jets."
Caddy says, "Changes in the structure of this site have made it impossible to navigate."
