Web Site Comments and Commentary
Site closed. Domain now points to a cybersquatter site. Our original view follows.

Five artists combined their considerable talents to make Simports International. The artists feature innovative and attractive designs throughout the site. Each artist's section presents a variety of goodies, organized in themes by country or geographic region. Most of the objects are made from photographs.

We found ourselves pining for walls that coordinate with Heather's outstanding collection of rugs from all around the world, and found them in some of the regional categories. Building a harem? Want to travel to the Casbah? Don't miss Cindy's section on Asia! You want those walls! Have some patriotic Yanks among your households? Kiri made some walls especially for them. Your more adventurous sims will enjoy her African murals. Deathkat's collection of walls will provide a lot of detail and interest to cover the sheet rock in your sims' homes. For adventure of a different sort, have your characters wear Camilla's beautiful "Amsterdam at Night" skins. (Caution: adult material.) You will find the artists' work at many other sites. Check the links section for more of their stuff.

aka SimPose-ium
Nancy's Sailor Suit from SimsHost, posed with SimPose. Click on picture to go to download page.
SimPose is an application program by C. H. Pygott that poses Sims by moving their joints. This one little tool revolutionized how sims are presented on the fan sites.

You have probably seen pictures from SimPose on just about every web site that has skins for downloading. That's why the skins are usually presented in close-up views from angles that you can't see in the game.

C. H. Pygott continues to develop SimPose. Now it can also display and store two types of animations -- CFP and keyframe -- making it a very useful tool for object developers to test new animations without having to wait for the whole game to load every time they make a little change. It can also read animations from the game, edit them, and store them back into the game.

Even if you don't develop objects for The Sims, you might still enjoy using SimPose to preview the animations that come with some fan-created objects.

The latest version of SimPose is v6.4, which appears as the file "SimPose8.exe" on your machine. If you use SimPose and don't have version 6.4, you do want it. Version 6.4 solved a lot of problems I was having with version 6.3 apparently getting locked in a loop.

SimPose is available for Windows only. Mac users need not dispair; it runs great under Virtual PC on a G4.

Web server is The software is free.

Illustration: Nancy's Sailor Suit from SimsHost Downloads. Created with SimPose, of course, with a little help from Photoshop.

Sim Poses
by Shelly
Sim Poses by Shelly has lots of... well... sim poses... created by Shelly. :)
Well, actually, it's Shelly's skin collection, nicely posed. Came on line in April 2002. Hosted on Geocities.

Sim Realty Co. If you need ideas for Sims architecture, look here. Sims Realty Co. offers downloadable houses in many different styles from at least nine contributors that we counted. Along with the houses you will find downloadable white doors (hooray!), a set of Victorian windows, and some other goodies. Houses are largely based on using wallpapers and floors from the original game, and where user objects are in the house they provide links to the sites where they came from.

Sims Addiction
Appears to be another Homestead fatality.
Our original description: Heads and clothing for men, women, and children; recolored objects in several categories, walls, floors. It looks like Sims Addiction moved from the Nguyen family's house on Homestead to its very own domain around July 2001.

Sims Ahoy
Off line; caught in the Homestead policy change. Appears to be abandoned.

A beauty salon, of course! SimSalon offers a very large collection of very attractive faces for all your characters in all skin tones. You will find more of Jen Bird's work at Seasonal Sims (page 8) and Lone Star Sims (page 5).

The site on Geocities can't seem to stay on line for more than a few minutes an hour, so JenBird moved to SimsHost and reopened the site on August 14, 2002. She has a few more nits to fix, but all the women's faces are available now!

Has an egroup on Yahoo where you can get to know JenBird and download some of her magnficent work at the expense of Yahoo's advertisers.

This is one of more than sixty great Sims sites hosted by SimsHost. You'll want to subscribe to SimsHost so you can download the goodies. Fortunately, it won't cost you much to subscribe and in addition to getting access to dozens of the greatest sites on the net, when you subscribe to SimsHost you are doing your part to keep all of the great Sims sites on line!

Netscape returns a page full of broken images; seems to work with MSIE. Appears to be an advertising ploy from Sets dozens of advertising cookies on your machine and pops up several advertising windows. Has some notes about The Sims that repeat the faqs you've seen on hundreds of other sites. Claims to be "mac-friendly" but there's nothing related to MacOS or Mac-compatible Sims on the site. The site hasn't been updated since 31 March 2001.

Sandy's Shacks

SimSational Sandy's Shacks is a shop at Candace's Sim Bazaar. See page 2 for our notes about the Bazaar.

Simsational Sandy provides us with a wonderful collection of walls and floors to go with a growing stable of real estate. Her houses are quite playable, but are also very realistic representations of homes you might find in your neighborhood -- if you happen to live in upscale suburbia.

All the houses are presented with complete notes about their size and cost, and most important, where you get all the goodies that she used to finish them.

Sim-Sations is back! Nadia (Marle) reopened her site after a lengthy hiatus with some new skins. Her interested is focused mostly on skinning these days, but you also will find a small collection of objects. Need some white doors, or a pocket door for those little cramped spaces? And no, you're not imagining it; the splash screen at Sim-Sations does come up with different images each time you load it. Turn on Javascript before you visit to enjoy the fun.

We have the honor of hosting Sim-Sations here on Moon Sims. The link to left takes you directly to the site on the Moon Sims server, but we should note that Nadia has her own registered domain at that redirects you to our server.

Sims Blue Webmistress Carlotta offers some exceptionally well-crafted skins for women, men, and children, including a lot of Hot-Date-buyable goodies. We found at least one XXL dress. Nice collection of original designs for colorful walls and floors; and some good-looking recolored furniture. Lots of Hot Date stuff. Don't miss the fun of the surprise links in the "Sorprese" section! Presented in Italian. Hosted by DIGILAND on Italia Online in Italy.

Sims by Sahra Uncommonly beautiful skins for your sims. Sahra puts a lot of talent and attention into the style, shading, and choice of colors in both her faces and her clothing. Hosted on multiservers.

Sims Chamber of Commerce Nothing here but one RealAudio recording announcing some awards they seem to have handed out to attract people to this one-page web site. Last update was November 28, 2000.
Sims Chat A chat board on
Sims Co.
Hosted on Homestead, with downloads linked to; both doomed web hosting services. We might as well put up a gravestone for this site a couple of days early. It appears to have been abandoned.

Sims Danske
Eventyr Side
With a little help from Tinkerbell, Sims Danske Eventyr Side presents a delightful collectionof skins, walls, floors, roofs, and houses in a fairy motif. Skins are characters from Walt Disney movies. In the walls section you will find several large murals from the movies. Hosted in Denmark; presented in both Danish and English.

Sims Diva

Hosted Site
Large collection of elegant clothing for adult female sims. These are fashions you would really expect to find real people wearing. We have the honor of hosting Sims Diva here on Moon Sims.

simSelections Changed the site name to Mama Sims. It says here: "Simple Yet Elegant, Sims Vault, and Kat's Interior Simsations have joined with Mamma Sims."
Entry updated 9 Sep 01.
Sim's City shop The site is just getting started with some skins and a few very nice objects. Some of the items are derivative works, based on others' stuff. Turn on Javascript so the navigation tool will work. The trick to finding the menu is to click on the little box on the upper left-hand corner of the window. Hosted on Angelfire; pop-up ads. Caution: Some adult content.

Entry created 3 April 02
Sims eXtreme Offers news, links to reviews of The Sims Games, and interviews. A few objects are on line. If your sims are demanding a helicopter, Sims Extreme can accommodate them!

Pasiphae says, "I want to keep an eye on Sims Extreme. It looks like it's really going somewhere!"

Caddy says, "Very professional-looking site design and organization! The page image takes longer to refresh than I would expect after snooping around his source code, even on my fastest machine. This might be because of the large number of little images that make up the standard page layout -- a problem that also plagues the stunning site design of the 7 Deadly Sims -- or it might be the server push. Probably both."
Sims Extremos Sims Extremos has lots of nicely recolored objects and room sets.

Warning: Massive pop-up ads open with every page. Also launches a hidden pop-up gun. Advertisers set lots of tracking cookies. Works well in IE for Windows, but the navigation scripts don't work on IE for MacOS. Sometimes crashes IE on the Mac; Netscape might fare better at this site.

Presented mostly in Spanish, with English notes in the downloads section.

Sims Finding Services Seems to be mostly a collection of broken links.
Sims Forever Quite a collection of original walls conveniently presented with coordinating floors. In the objects section you will find recolored furnishings for every room that work well with the decor, including some new looks for the establishments you are building downtown in Hot Date. The catalog includes some bold colors, so if you have a room you like but can't find things that quite go with it, you just might find it here. The clothing department offers attractive original outfits for all sims, and includes maternity outfits that a mom-to-be would be proud to wear. You will enjoy the way simsmaster Donna presents the clothing against backdrop photos with themes that coordinate with the outfits. Skins include a special feature of the characters from the HBO elevision series, Oz.

After the first month of operation, bandwidth issues forced simsmaster Donna to move from her own domain to hosting by Strategy Planet.

Pasiphae says, "OK, for Sims Forever, I'll put up with Strategy Planet."

Sims Galleria (Macintosh) I still can't get the main page to load, and now the text links seem to have disappeared from the content frame.

Carla says, "There's too much cool stuff here to let a few web problems stand in your way!"

Caddy says, "The links are there, but it looks like the page times out while trying to pull in its web counter. Try this. I'll provide some direct links and target them all on the same new window: Men, Women, Children, Houses, Walls, Floors, Hollywood, Sports, Objects, Themes, Associates, Contact."

Sims Giftshop
a.k.a. Lphnts Trunk
Sims Giftshop moved to their own domain and are now known as Lphnts Trunk. See page 5 of the Moon Sims links for our notes on Lphnts Trunk.

Sims Historical Society It looks neat, but the layers prevent us from navigating the site with MSIE. We'll try again later with Netscape. Hosted on Geocities.

Sims Go Go Go Sims Go Go Go is hosted on Moonfruit, so you might have some difficulty with the site depending on what browser and OS you're running. If it comes up as flashing black and white or just a solid white or black screen, that's Moonfruit's fault. Their "sitebuilder" software uses a Flash interface that seems to be compatible only with the very latest version of Macromedia Flash.

It's worth your while to update your Flash or try a different web browser because here you will find an outstanding collection of skins, all for for adult male sims. Just as in real life, men's ready-to-wear shops are scarce in sims community in comparison to the number of shops offering ladies' clothing. So if you want to rescue your guys from having look like Bob Newbie and Mortimer Goth all the time, do what it takes to get Sims Go Go Go to work for you.
