Brico Sims
|
This site has been lost to the Homestead purges. Following is the original entry:
Lots of original and innovative building materials to add some variety to
your Sims game. Hosted on Homestead so two steps are required for each download.
Pasiphae says, "Oh, I wish we could have that beautiful wood on Luna
without having to fake it! There's really not any Livin' Luna stuff here, but
we can make any wallpaper work; the difference is that we print the wallpaper
on aluminum foil instead of paper."

BriSims
|
We lost 'em for a while, but after bouncing around the net a bit BriSims is alive and still updating at their new location.
It loads slowly and the Javascript one work on IE for Mac, but we got there with
IE for Windows. We're seeing some broken image links and can't get anything to
download. If a page cannot be displayed, try reloading it. We're seeing timeout
errors on both the German and English versions. The site has links to subsites
distributed around the net.
Our original review follows.
Extensive collection of furniture and objects. Text is in both
German and English. You can spend a lot of time just looking
through this magnificent collection of well-executed objects.
Objects, walls, and floors are grouped together by the room you
might expect to find them in.
Pasiphae says, "You'll want those beautiful stone walls for
your Moon Sims! Lots of plants, too. They have some vines growing
on a fence, but alas, the fence is made of wood. The colored tile
roofs might work on Luna; we like bright colors when we can get
them! I'm not sure what the golden roof is made of, but we could
surely crank those out in the sheet metal factory. I found a wonderful
diamond-patterned stone wall in the 'Hall' category."
Caddy says, "Don't overlook the little numbered nav bars
that look like this | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | at the top
and bottom of the content frame. Most categories have multiple
pages and that's where they're linked."
Carla says, "I really like the presentation. They show you
object as it will appear in the game with other things and then make
it obvious where to click to download the goodies you want."

Build a Porch
|
This page from Job Two Sims
has grown rather dramatically since our original review in November 2001. The porch
now includes gables that you can download from the site.
This is one of many building projects now available from
Job Two Sims. Just go the
the Job Two front page and scoll down to find the links to all the incredible projects
and downloads. See our entry for Job Two Sims on page 4.
Moved from Topcities to SimsHost in 2002.

The link at left takes you to a front page where you can select from two mirror sites. Here are some
direct links:
Mirror 1 on Tripod
Mirror 2 on SP Hosting
BZ Sims has a very large collection of great skins for all your characters. You may have some difficulty
with the meshes that don't follow the "bnnn" filename convention that some versions of
the game (and all versions of SimShow) expect. If you need to rename the meshes, Caddy's essay on
how to fix filenames might help.
Note that if you need the meshes for the skins on BZ Sims, you need to download them separately.

Candace's Sim Bazaar
|
Candace's Sim Bazaar is one of the largest, if not the largest, Sims sites on the net. It also appears to be among the most frequently updated sites, with new offerings of entire rooms of furniture, skins, walls, and houses added continuously.
Candace does really nice things in just about every category. Elegantly recolored furniture. Clothes for the whole family. The artwork section features trolls and the art of Nené Thomas. There are lots of rugs, and furnishings for downtown establishments. Some of her stuff only works with later expansion packs, and is clearly marked. This huge site updates constantly; at least once a week.
For the more adventurous Sims fan, the site also features an adult section called Candace's Sin Bazaar. You must be 18 or over (and a SimsHost subscriber) to access the adult part of the site.
In addition to Candy's own work, the rapidly growing Candace's Sim Bazaar is the home of several other artists' shops:
- Devil's Den
- Fashions for all your sims.
See our notes on page 3.
- SERENE ESTATES
- Housing for your upscale families designed by a professional decorator.
See our notes on page 8.
- Simsational Sandy's Shacks
- Outstanding architecture, walls, and floors.
See our notes on page 11.
Pasiphae says, "I added my Livin' Luna badge to Sim Bazaar to call your attention to the astronomical art used in the Celestial Club theme."

Caro's Sim Kagen
|
Hundreds of skins for all characters, with real-people clothing. Also some realistic walls and floors and some unusual objects. Most everything is already Mac compatible so Macintosh users won't have to struggle with renaming things. Recent additions include buyable pajamas for Hot Date. This is the home of the transparent floor (vital for a lot of specialized projects) and the ever-popular Mr. Maid, now available with a phone plug-in.
Available in English and Japanese, with a cultural note that explains the Japanese word "kagen" is something like the English word "gestalt." That is, the word just doesn't translate into English. :)
We seem to be experiencing some internal controversey regarding the design of the site. If you are having difficulty accessing Caro's Sim Kagen, you might be interested in the discussion in the reviews section.
Caddy says, "Caro's home page offers links to two alternate mirror sites, both of which we found to be very lively, allowing for the intercontinental transport lag."

Carrot Stuff
|
The bandwidth ogre has been vanquished and Carrot Stuff is back and better than ever!
Carrot offers an impressive collection of outstanding recolors; not just one of
a kind but entire collections of objects in a variety of colors, so you're sure to find
the things you need to match the decor of the house you're building today.
This was the first site we know of to offer items for Hot Date, and Carrot remains
on the leading edge by offering goodies for Vacation, too.
If you are getting bored with those government-issue
gray toilet stalls, look here for a hue that matches your decor.

Celebrity Sims
|
As the name says, celebrities -- a growing collection of skins for female celebrities,
meticulously crafted and recognizable from their portraits.
Also a collection of corsets and a large collection of stunning paintings made from
popular artwork. Clever user interface shows the front and back of costumes as you
move your mouse over them.
Carla says, "I've already downloaded everything Dana has made, but I keep
going back to Celebrity Sims because the site itself is a work of art."

Charmed Sims
|
Charmed Sims has heads, clothes, props, and walls all based on the popular television show Charmed. The selection includes heads for Alyssa Milano (Phoebe), Holly Marie Combs (Piper), and Rose McGowan (Paige) along with their sundry friends and foes. Skins are outfits that Alyssa Milano wore on the show, organized by season. If you're looking for a golden mermaid or barbarian maiden, you'll like these!
The selection of art has a unique feature -- paintings from the set of Charmed reproduced for your Sims' homes. You will also find Piper's painted wardrobe with a scene reminiscent of Thomas Kinkade's cottages. There's also the dresser in the attic. Walls depict each of the Charmed Ones' rooms from the television set.
The one external Sims link on the site was broken when we visited. It wants to point to Op3lia's site (page 7). (We couldn't get Op3lia's site to open just now, but Charmed Sims says you'll find more Charmed things there.)
Charmed Sims is part of a larger Alyssa Milano fan site. Hosted by Digital Sense.

Cheap Frills

Several beautifully crafted faces for men and women, and a collection of very intriguing objects. Home of the original
martial arts mat, which is an excellent replacement for the ugly weight machine. (See Chariss's Little Sim page, above,
for variations on the theme.) Here's where you will find the magic
witch's broom cloned from the bull ride, the meditation tree, and the Persilian Magic Mirror.

Chocolate Covered Sims
|
Originally known as Sim Indulgence, Chocolate Covered Sims has a rapidly growing collection skins, furniture, furnishings, and building materials in just about every category. Furniture tends to be carefully executed recolors, with some household items modified for use downtown (requires Hot Date, of course). "The Bahr Cave" is a special feature of the site, offering skins of "animorphs"; that is, creatures that are part animal and part human.
This site and its contents are brought to you by the considerable artistic talent of webmaster Linnhe Davis.
It says here: Sim Indulgence was established on June 9th, 2001. It became Chocolate Covered Sims on April 2nd, 2002.
Chocolate Covered Sims is a subscription site, priced at $5.00 a month, or $20 for a whole year.

Classy Sims
|
Just what the name says -- a collection of classy stuff in all categories.
Elaborate wallpapers, fancy clothes (from Threnody's), and a few household objects. Many
of the items are from other sites, especially
Roman Sims.
Went on line in early August 2001 with a very impressive starting collection.
Pasiphae says, "I found at least a dozen stone floors that are just perfect
for Livin' Luna! There are also some nice stone walls on page 9 of the wallpapers.
The links to some of my favorites were broken, so I'll have revisit Classy Sims later
to see how they're doing with maintaining the site.
"The bamboo furniture could work
in a Livin' Luna environment when we finally get enough carbon in the ecosystem that
we can afford to have some of it tied up in household furnishings. Bamboo grows
quickly and has a lot of structural strength for the amount of carbon it uses, and
it looks great!"
Carla says, "When you're decorating your lunar households, don't forget to
scatter around some wool rugs and include lots of wall decorations. They add a lot of
warmth to the room without a big investment in organic material. The Classy Sims picture
walls need coordinating plain walls to make it possible to decorate a whole room."
Entry updated 30 Dec 01. Still on line, and still classy.
